DONN
7M

ANTANANARIVO
SEPTEMBER 13 - OCTOBER 13, 2019

An admirer of Jackson Pollock's work, Donn delves into abstraction by merging the dripping and ebru techniques. His approach is to let acrylic and industrial paint slowly drip into a basin of water (dripping technique) similar in shape and size to the canvas. Once satisfied with the paint rendering in the water support (ebru technique), he immerses his canvas - previously entirely painted in black - into it: this transfer gives life, color and light to the painting.

7M consists of seven paintings linked together not only by certain symbols recurring from one canvas to the next, but also by the works’ consistent format, an analogy of unity. Between a whole that can be divided and units that cannot, the viewer is free to see, perceive, and think beyond Donn's perspective according to their own feelings, thanks to abstraction.
