LIBRARY

The library of Fondation H, entirely free of charge and accessible to all, is the country's first library dedicated to art and culture.

It offers a collection of over 500 books – artist monographs, exhibition catalogues, academic journals, scientific publications, and more – as well as multimedia resources accessible via public computers and free Wi-Fi access.

Beyond the exhibitions and public programmes, establishing a library within a contemporary art center is part of a broader approach to cultural mediation. Its goal is to foster reflection and extend the visitor experience through the wealth of resources available. Designed as atool for both artists and researchers, the library serves as a bridge between artistic practice and research. It seeks to root contemporary creation in real and dynamic cultural contexts, encouraging dialogue between contemporary art and situated knowledge.

The presence of academic works in the humanities and social sciences, travel literature, and texts on traditional practices enriches the analysis of artistic approaches while offering diverse imaginaries and sources of inspiration.

The Library of Fondation H also provides a space to promote reading and the exchange of ideas. One Saturday afternoon every two months is dedicated to this purpose. In the form of a café littéraire, readings, book presentations, and meetings with authors and researchers are regularly held. These gatherings foster collective reflection on the aesthetic, political, and social questions raised by contemporary art, particularly in relation to current exhibitions.

Access to the library is free, and books areavailable for on-site consultation only, from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:45.
