LES PEURS S'ENVOLENT [FEARS FLY AWAY]

ANTANANARIVO
DECEMBER 8 - 23, 2021

Fondation H - Antananarivo are delighted to host Les peurs s’envolent, first solo exhibition by INDIE, vice-winner of the 2021 Prix Paritana. Since its creation in 2016, this contemporary art prize has been supporting the Malagasy art scene, and is awarded annually to three artists who are citizens or residents of Madagascar. As a result, INDIE received personalized support from the Fondation H team for four months, as well as a production grant to set up his exhibition.

Using paper, cardboard, sticks and glue, INDIE fleshes out his tormenting voices and his fear of failure at major life milestones. He thus models miniature universes where he can control his reality and make his fears fly away.

In this exhibition, he presents six pieces, against wooden backgrounds, showing scaled down scenes and moments frozen in time and inspired by his own fears, while four installations with dioramas hang suspended in Plexiglas cubes, alongside a large paper sculpture on a wire frame. With this proposal, INDIE faces his fears and invites his audience to follow suit.
